Damian Williams was ordered Monday to stand trial in the shooting death of Grover Tinner Jr., 48, of Los Angeles, after a three-day preliminary hearing.

Williams, who spent four years in prison for attacking trucker Reginald O. Denny during the 1992 riots, will be arraigned in Superior Court on April 2 on one count of murder and two counts of robbery. Williams, 27, has pleaded not guilty in the July 18 shooting in southwest Los Angeles.

A special circumstance allegation of murder during a robbery was filed by prosecutors. But Deputy Dist. Atty. Tom Rubinson said Monday that it has not yet been decided whether the death penalty will be sought for Williams or co-defendant Tyrone Killingsworth, 34, who was also ordered Monday by Judge David Horowitz to stand trial in the shooting.
