Police Probe Death of Santa Ana Man
Huntington Beach police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old Santa Ana man found unconscious near the Bolsa Chica wetlands last week.
A motorist saw Melecio Salpa’s unconscious body on the bicycle path next to the wetlands about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. The motorist flagged down a motorcycle officer, who called an ambulance, said Police Lt. Luis Ochoa.
Paramedics were unable to revive Salpa, police said. Salpa was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died of head trauma shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, Ochoa said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Huntington Beach police at (714) 375-5066.
