“A 1999 Pierpaolo Pecorari Tocai Friulano from Friuli. My wife and I were having dinner at Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa with some friends. We had brought some big-time red Burgundies, so we purchased a wine off the list that none of us had tasted. This wine caught us all by surprise. We were engaged in conversation when the wine was poured, and everyone started drinking without thinking. Then all of a sudden everyone paused, looked at each other and exclaimed, ‘That’s gooood!’ It is a non-cerebral wine that is just plain yummy. Bright, forward fruit, mouth-watering acidity .... It was perfect for setting the mood and great with the Italian appetizers.”
