Maryland forward Terence Morris made only one of 11 shots and scored four points in the Terrapins’ victory over Georgetown, but he hopes to come back strong against Stanford.

“I had that kind of game against George Mason, and I came back well,” Morris said. “I had a good day of practice [Friday]. I just have to keep believing in myself and not lose any confidence.”

Morris, who is Maryland’s third-leading scorer at 12.3 points a game, scored only four points in the Terrapins’ first-round victory over George Mason, but had 14 against Georgia State in the second round.

“I know I can’t have any more games like that one [against Georgetown] in the tournament,” Morris said. “But my teammates have been supportive. Juan [Dixon] came up to me after the game and said, ‘You’ll show up when we really need you.’ ”

The father of Maryland point guard Steve Blake is reluctant to travel by air since he was involved in a close call in a small plane about 15 years ago.

“He almost got on a plane to come out here [from Miami Lakes, Fla.] for the tournament, but then he decided against it,” Blake said. “I think it was more because of the cost this time. The prices are pretty steep on short notice.”

Blake said his father, Richard, hasn’t flown since the eight-seat company plane he was on lost power in both engines and had to make an emergency landing in the Florida Everglades. “They landed in a spot that wasn’t much wider than the tires of the plane,” Blake said.

Blake said his father will definitely make the trip if Maryland advances to the Final Four. “He’ll drive to Minneapolis,” he said.
