Vandalism Causes Arroyo Simi Sewage Spill
Vandals clogged a sewer line with debris, causing 10,000 gallons of raw, untreated sewage to flow into the Arroyo Simi, county environmental officials said Monday.
City crews removed the debris and pumped as much sewage out of the area as they could after the blockage was spotted about 8 a.m. Friday at a construction site near Katherine Road and Riverwood Court, officials said.
From Friday to Monday, warning signs advising people to avoid contact with the water were posted along a half-mile stretch of the stream. The signs were removed Monday afternoon.
Police said no arrests had been made in the case.
