Man Sentenced in Tow Truck Fraud
A former tow truck driver accused of conspiring to prey on motorists by inflating prices has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 90 days in Orange County Jail plus three years of probation, authorities said.
George Garulle, formerly a driver for Ace Towing in Fullerton, entered the plea Monday in Orange County Superior Court.
Garulle, 32, was the sixth person to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit theft by false pretenses in the case, in which the tow company advertised $35 for a hookup and 10 free miles, then significantly raised its prices after a car was in tow, according to court documents.
Others who pleaded guilty include four other drivers and Naser Saleh, the company owner, who was sentenced to a year in jail and three years’ probation.
