A man accused of shooting two people during an argument surrendered to members of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s SWAT team early Monday in Paramount after a brief standoff, authorities said.

Sergio Nevarez, 32, was taken into custody in the 8800 block of Somerset Boulevard, where he had barricaded himself in a motor home after the shooting on Sunday evening, authorities said.

Nevarez reportedly had been arguing with two people in the 8500 block of Eglise Avenue about 10 p.m. when he went into a nearby residence and came back outside with a handgun. He allegedly shot the two people with whom he had been arguing.

A tip led deputies to the motor home, where Nevarez was persuaded to surrender. He was booked at the Pico Rivera sheriff’s station on two counts of attempted murder and was held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Both victims remained in critical condition on Monday, authorities said.
