The City Council approved a $25,000 reward Thursday for information leading to the conviction of the man who killed a longtime San Fernando Valley ice cream vendor last week.

Carolyn LaFleur, 55, of Van Nuys, was shot to death in her ice cream van in Canoga Park the evening of April 23. Police described the killer as black, 16 to 18 years old, between 5 feet and 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and about 125 pounds.

“I just hope it does the trick,” said LaFleur’s youngest daughter, Renee Jensen. “Things have been hard. I want this to end.”

She is survived by three adult children and 12 grandchildren. Police are asking anyone with information to call Devonshire Division homicide detectives at (818) 756-8291.
