Fire Engulfs Santa Clarita Recycling Center
A fire at a Santa Clarita recycling center burned at least three acres containing mostly paper, cardboard and plastic products late Friday evening, authorities said.
The blaze at Quality Paper Fiber at Soledad Canyon Road and Oak Avenue began shortly after 8 p.m. The cause of the blaze was not known, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Elvin Miranda. At 10 p.m., firefighters had contained the fire, but were still fighting it.
One firefighter received a minor hand injury. No structures were threatened and no nearby homes were evacuated, he said.
Twelve engine companies with 55 firefighters responded.
