Frontierland Reopens After Tree Accident
An area of Disneyland closed to the public after a falling tree injured 27 people was reopened Saturday, and theme park officials continued investigating what might have caused the accident.
A large cork oak tree in Frontierland collapsed on Friday evening, sending 18 people to emergency rooms at six area hospitals. Several hospitals declined to comment on the conditions of the victims, but Anaheim Fire Department spokeswoman Maria Sabol said all the injuries were minor.
The huge tree, which stood near the Rivers of America and the Golden Horseshoe Revue, suddenly toppled without warning, sending tourists scrambling and prompting park officials to close Frontierland. A receptionist at Disney said the popular pioneer-era section of the park was reopened Saturday.
