Man Shot by Police Outside Drugstore
A man was shot and critically wounded Monday night by a police officer responding to a disturbance call outside an Oxnard drugstore, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the store parking lot near the intersection of 5th Street and Ventura Road, according to Oxnard Police Sgt. Steve Moore.
The wounded man was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was in extremely critical condition, Moore said.
Moore declined to release the name of the police officer who fired.
The call to which the officer responded involved a report that a man--the one who was later shot--was disturbing the peace in the parking lot. No other details were immediately available.
