Share

A Newbury Park man was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail and $13,500 in fines for illegally hauling hazardous asbestos waste while working for a Simi Valley company in February 1998.

Timothy Joel Miller, 32, was barred from working in the hazardous waste industry and ordered to spend five years on probation. Miller must also reimburse Ventura County $5,069 for the investigation.

Miller was not properly registered to haul asbestos and pleaded guilty last month to a felony charge of unlawfully transporting the waste for Eagle Asbestos Lead & General Contractors, said Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Mitch Disney.
