Curt Schilling faced the Philadelphia Phillies for the first time since he was traded by the team to Arizona last July, and came away with his first loss of the season.

Doug Glanville was four for five with two home runs and Travis Lee homered twice in his first game back at Arizona as the Phillies defeated the Diamondbacks, 5-1, Friday night at Phoenix.

Randy Wolf (3-4), in his second consecutive strong outing, gave up one run and five hits in a season-high eight innings. He struck out nine and walked one.

Schilling (5-1)--whose 5-0 start had been the best of his career--fell behind quickly.

Glanville started the game with a homer, then led off the third inning with another, the second two-homer game of his career.

Schilling threw 124 pitches in seven innings. He gave up three runs, eight hits, struck out five and walked two.

Lee, who was part of the Schilling trade, hit two homers in a game for the fourth time, but the first with Philadelphia.

Pittsburgh 3, Milwaukee 0--Jason Schmidt won for the first time in nearly a year, giving up three hits in 5 2/3 innings in his season debut as the Pirates won at Milwaukee.

Schmidt had an operation to fix a frayed rotator cuff after making only 11 starts last year. He walked two and struck out five in winning for the first time since May 29, 2000.

Colorado 13, Montreal 4--Mark Little filled in nicely at Denver for Larry Walker, hitting his first two home runs to lead the Rockies to their fourth consecutive victory.

With Walker in Canada attending his grandfather’s funeral, Little went four for five with four runs scored and four RBIs. Ron Gant and Terry Shumpert also homered for the Rockies and Ben Petrick drove in three runs.

Denny Neagle (3-1), who retired the first 10 batters he faced, gave up six hits and three runs in seven innings.

St. Louis 7, Chicago 2--Darryl Kile beat the Cubs again and J.D. Drew hit his team-leading 12th homer at St. Louis.

Kile beat the Cubs for the fourth consecutive time and Craig Paquette also homered for the Cardinals, who are 5-0 and have outscored opponents 39-11 in the first five games of a seven-game homestand.

Kile (5-2) gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

San Diego 7, Florida 6--Damian Jackson scored on Rickey Henderson’s bases-loaded grounder with one out in the 10th to give the Padres the victory at San Diego.

Henderson hit a one-hopper to shortstop Alex Gonzalez, whose throw home forced catcher Charles Johnson to take his foot off the plate, and Jackson slid under the tag.

San Francisco 3, New York 2--Benito Santiago’s bases-loaded single in the 10th inning gave the Giants the victory at San Francisco.

Houston at Cincinnati, ppd.--The game was postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
