The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists plan to begin negotiations today with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for a new three-year contract.

“We believe there is a deal to be made,” SAG President William Daniels said Monday.

Although talk of a work stoppage that would shut down TV and movie production has rumbled for months, optimism has blossomed in the wake of a tentative contract agreement by the Writers Guild of America.
