Police Seek Robbers of 50 Fast-Food Outlets

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding two armed men who have robbed 50 Southland fast-food restaurants since March 3, taking more than $40,000 in cash, authorities said.

The men, dubbed “the fast-food junkie bandits” by police, have hit 30 restaurants in Los Angeles and at least 20 in Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Burbank, Monrovia, West Hollywood and Glendale, said Lt. Jim Grayson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division. No one has been hurt in any of the holdups.

The robbers were described as Latino, between 25 and 30, weighing about 170 pounds each. One is 6 feet tall, with a thick mustache and protruding ears. The other is 5-foot-6 with dark hair.

Grayson said they took $400 to $2,000 at each location, usually striking between 8 and 10 p.m. and primarily striking KFC and Koo Koo Roo businesses. The most recent robbery occurred May 6 at El Pollo Loco in Santa Monica.
