Turnovers helped lead to San Antonio’s demise.

After a fast start, San Antonio hurt itself by committing six turnovers to help the Lakers turn a 12-6 deficit into a 24-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.

After San Antonio rallied midway through the second quarter, turnovers again haunted the Spurs. Miscues led to 11 Laker points and a nine-point lead for L.A. at the half.

“That’s something that we pride ourselves on is not giving up easy buckets,” San Antonio guard Antonio Daniels said. “That’s always first on our defensive chart. Tonight we gave up a lot of easy baskets and if we cut those out, that takes away at least 10 or 12 points for them.”
