Winter in Yellowstone, Where Buffalo Still Roam

In winter Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming is blanketed with snow, the crowds are gone, and the roads are traveled mostly by snow coaches and snowmobiles. Main Street Tours of Torrance is offering two tours to the park, Feb. 25 to March 2 and March 4 to 9.

The trip includes a guided tour in heated, track-driven snow coaches to remote areas of Yellowstone to observe wildlife. New Mexico: Holidays

A mix of Spanish, Native American and Anglo American holiday traditions makes up the celebrations in Santa Fe.

Aventura Artistica is hosting its annual “Eggnog in Santa Fe Tour” from Dec. 23 to 29. Guests will stay at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort on the Santa Ana Reservation. Europe: Music

Two Los Angeles-area music professors will lead their annual “Famous Composers Tour” from July 15 to 29 to visit the places where Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Strauss and Wagner, among others, were born, lived and composed. Alabama: Architecture

Mobile, one of Alabama’s oldest cities, was established in 1702 by the French, and the first Europeans to see its bay most likely were Spanish explorers in 1519. A March 10 to 15 Interhostel tour for adults 50 and older will focus on Spain’s attempts to colonize the Gulf Coast, and highlights will include Mobile’s architecture. Visits are planned to the Conde-Charlotte Museum House, built in 1822 to 1824 as a jail and now a showplace for period furnishings; the Oakleigh Period House Museum, erected by a merchant in 1833 and currently the city’s official antebellum museum; the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, raised in 1855 and noted for its fluted columns and oak trees; and Bellingrath Home & Gardens, an American “castle” built in 1932. Patagonia: Hiking

Patagonia, in southern Chile and Argentina, has dense evergreen and southern beech forests, turquoise lakes, abundant wildlife, glaciers and granite peaks. A Jan. 5 to 22 trip from Andes Adventures combines hikes in three national parks in Patagonia: Torres del Paine, Los Glaciares and Tierra del Fuego. Participants should be in good health.
