Late-Night Visitor Steals Away With Swing Set

Wildlife biologists on the Kenai Peninsula across from Anchorage are looking for a moose that dragged off an 18-foot swing set from a Nikiski yard. Some parts of the swing later were found.
“This moose will be pretty easy to recognize,” state wildlife technician Larry Lewis said.
Jennifer Wallis was watching TV about 1 a.m. one night last week when she heard a ruckus outside.
After getting snagged in the swing set--which had seven legs, three swings, a teeter-totter and a slide--the moose ran in circles, missing the family’s camper, boat and house. Then it tore off through the woods, leaving the slide behind.
“We figure he’s still carrying at least 8 to 10 feet of bar, plus two legs and three swings,” Wallis said.
