Iverson’s 33 Points Keep 76ers Rolling

Allen Iverson scored 33 points and Matt Harpring had 21 to help the 76ers defeat the Charlotte Hornets, 100-86, Wednesday night at Philadelphia.

The 76ers improved to 3-0 since Iverson returned from elbow surgery.

Iverson was 10 for 26 from the field, but made 12 of 13 free throws. He made 12 consecutive free throws before missing a technical with 4:20 to play.

Jamal Mashburn scored 21 points and Baron Davis had 20 for Charlotte.

Dallas 107, Cleveland 94--Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points and Michael Finley had 22 as the Mavericks handed the Cavaliers their fourth consecutive lopsided home defeat.

Steve Nash had 11 points and 12 assists, and Shawn Bradley, making his second start, had 15 points and five blocked shots for the Mavericks.

Nowitzki, who shook off an early ankle injury, scored 18 in the second half, when the Mavericks pulled away

Jumaine Jones had 20 points and Andre Miller had 16 assists for the Cavaliers.

Boston 101, Indiana 93--Joe Johnson had 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists at Boston for the Celtics, who won their third in a row.

The score was tied, 86-86, with eight minutes to play when Johnson made a three-point basket to put Boston ahead for good.

Antoine Walker had 24 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists, and Paul Pierce scored 31 for Boston.

Jalen Rose scored 24 for Indiana, which has lost two in a row for the first time this season.

Milwaukee 107, Washington 98--Sam Cassell scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half and Ray Allen scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half at Washington as the Bucks sent the Wizards to their fifth consecutive loss.

Michael Jordan scored 31 points and rallied Washington from a 20-point deficit.

The Bucks led, 63-43, early in the third quarter, but the Wizards had runs of 14-2 and 12-2 to tie the score, 84-84, early in the fourth quarter.

Atlanta 111, Utah 79--Dion Glover and Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 19 points apiece at Atlanta and the Hawks ended a four-game losing streak.

Atlanta put the game away with a 20-3 run to start the third quarter.

Orlando 93, Phoenix 92--Patrick Ewing, in his best offensive game in two seasons, had 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Magic at Phoenix.

Tracy McGrady had 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for the Magic, which ended a three-game road losing streak.

Stephon Marbury scored 25 points and Shawn Marion had 20 for the Suns.

The Suns scored the last five points and had a chance to win, but Marbury’s one-hander on a drive didn’t connect.

Toronto 89, Golden State 82--Vince Carter scored 24 points for the Raptors at Oakland.

The Raptors trailed for much of the game but moved ahead with a 13-4 run early in the fourth quarter.

Golden State pulled within 80-76 on Chris Mills’ jumper with 5:24 to play but didn’t score again for more than four minutes.

Erick Dampier had 22 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Warriors.

Milwaukee forward Jason Caffey was fined $10,000 for missing Tuesday’s team flight and Wednesday morning’s shoot-around before the Bucks’ game with the Wizards at Washington, General Manager Ernie Grunfeld said....Looking for frontcourt help, Atlanta signed forward Dickey Simpkins, waived by the Lakers during the exhibition season.
