Water, Sewer Fees Rising in 3 Cities
Citing higher costs, the South Coast Water District is raising rates for customers in three cities.
The district’s board of directors voted last week to raise both water and sewer fees for customers in Dana Point, South Laguna Beach and north coastal San Clemente.
In Dana Point’s Capistrano Beach community, residents will see the average monthly water and sewer rates jump 49% to a combined $72.40 per month. Before the increase, residents paid on average $48.54 each month.
The district intends to use the increased revenue to improve its water and sewer system and cover higher electric power costs, the district said in a news release. Some 40,000 Orange County residents depend on the district for water and sewer service.
