Sanchez’s Trial Date Set in Barroso Slaying
A March 11 trial date has been set for a Simi Valley unemployed carpenter accused of murder and serial rape.
Prosecutors say Vincent Sanchez, 31, sexually assaulted 15 women in Simi Valley and the west San Fernando Valley between September 1996 and July of this year.
Sanchez recently pleaded guilty to rape, burglary and assault charges in connection with some of the attacks.
But he has denied some additional charges and pleaded not guilty to murder in the July 5 slaying of 20-year-old Moorpark College student Megan Barroso.
Prosecutors contend that Sanchez gunned down Barroso with an assault rifle as she drove home from a Fourth of July party. They further allege the shooting occurred during an attempted kidnapping and rape.
