Council to Reconsider Permit for Topless Club
The Los Angeles City Council agreed Wednesday to hold a new hearing on the disputed permit for an adult entertainment club in Tarzana after a court found the city had not provided specific alternative locations.
When the owners of Dino’s Victory Roadhouse on Oxnard Avenue requested permission to convert a bikini bar into a topless club in 1999 the city denied an exception to the city’s adult entertainment ordinance, which prohibits such businesses within 500 feet of residences.
The club owners sued, and the courts found that the city has to provide evidence that other sites can be reasonably found that comply with city codes.
