United Airlines, a subsidiary of UAL Corp., said it is offering 25% to 50% off some unrestricted business fares purchased in advance and used for travel through Dec. 31.

United, the nation’s second-largest airline, said its two new fare options for business travelers offer significant price savings and do not require a Saturday night stay.

One fare option is priced at 50% off the current unrestricted business fare and requires a 21-day advance purchase and a one- or two-night minimum stay. The second fare special offers up to 25% off and is available with a 10-day advance purchase, the airline said.

The new fares are available starting Monday and apply for travel through Dec. 31, the company said.

United also said it would downgrade service in several cities at end of the month, including Santa Barbara. Flights will be replaced with service by United Express, its regional carrier.
