Tab Perry wore a new Bruin baseball cap at practice, the price tag still attached and flapping in the wind.

UCLA’s leading receiver isn’t forgetful from the concussion he suffered against Oregon State. He considers the look stylish.

As for his head, it’s clearing.

Perry, UCLA’s leading receiver, will resume practicing Monday--replacing the cap with a helmet--as long as he has no headaches over the weekend.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “I’m sure I’ll be ready.”

Perry was hit after making a reception in the second quarter. Although he spoke clearly to reporters after the game, he said he cannot remember anything about the day.

Several other players who took the week off to recuperate from injuries plan to practice Monday, including linebacker Robert Thomas (concussion), tackle Mike Saffer (knee) and defensive linemen Ken Kocher (knee) and Sean Phillips (knee).

Fullback Matt Stanley (ankle) will not practice and is unlikely to play against Washington on Oct. 13.

Coach Bob Toledo and coordinators Kelly Skipper and Phil Snow conducted practice because six assistants spent the day recruiting.

Bruin coaches will recruit today as well, using two of the NCAA-allowed six fall recruiting days this week.

UCLA has commitments from 13 players and wants to bring in a dozen more. The Bruins plan to offer the NCAA maximum of 25 new scholarships because there are 23 seniors on the current roster.

The Bruins’ 4-0 start has not prompted a rush for tickets to home games against Washington and California (Oct. 20).

“We’re concerned,” said Ken Weiner, associate athletic director for business operations. “We thought we’d see more interest.”
