Phillips Petroleum Co.’s Tosco Corp. unit settled a lawsuit Monday that stemmed from a fire at its refinery in Martinez that killed four workers and injured a fifth.
Terms of the settlement, which was “generous,” will remain confidential, said attorney J. Gary Gwilliam, who represented the family of Ernie Pofahl, who died in the Feb. 23, 1999, blaze, and Steve Duncan, who was injured.
