The Miami Heat have added trouble-prone point guard Rod Strickland to their thin backcourt.

Published reports in Miami said Strickland signed a one-year contract worth $1 million.

Strickland, 35, who finished last season with Portland, spent 10 days in jail and was placed on two years’ probation after pleading guilty in April to drunken driving. He has been arrested several other times.

“Michael is going to be great this season,” Stern said. “The concern everyone has is his ability to take the strain and the grind of an 82-game NBA season.”

Jordan had said he felt Stern was only lukewarm to the idea of a comeback, believing it would undo the progress the league made in turning the public’s interest toward its new generation of stars.
