Plane Quarantined; Powder Found Harmless
A United Airlines flight carrying 105 passengers and five crew members from Denver was quarantined at Burbank Airport for more than an hour Tuesday after a white, powdery substance was found on board.
Flight 1285 landed at 9:13 p.m. and passengers and crew remained on board until tests were completed, said Burbank Police Department Lt. Roger Mason. A Burbank Fire Department hazmat crew found the powder to be harmless.
The package was found in a passenger compartment during the flight and the crew radioed the airport, Mason said.
The airport remained open during the inspection.
