At Least 1 Killed, 130 Hurt in Quake
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocked the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan, killing at least one person and injuring 130 and collapsing hundreds of buildings, the official New China News Agency said.
Rescue workers were looking for more victims of the early-afternoon quake, which shook six villages in Yongsheng County, about 170 miles northwest of the provincial capital, Kunming, the news agency said.
Ancient buildings in the town of Lijiang were undamaged, but more than 1,500 buildings in the village of Taoyuan collapsed, the news agency said.
