Bail Reduced for Lawyer Accused in Dog Attack

From Times Wire Reports

A Superior Court judge has agreed to halve the bail for Marjorie Knoller, a San Francisco lawyer accused in the dog mauling death of Diane Whipple.

Judge James Warren said he could see no reason why Knoller, whose bail had been set at $2 million, posed any greater danger or flight risk than her husband, Robert Noel. He faces an involuntary manslaughter charge in Whipple’s Jan. 26 death and is being held in lieu of $1-million bail.

Both face charges of keeping a mischievous dog that killed a human being. Bane and Hera, the dogs involved in the attack against Whipple, were being kept by the couple on behalf of Paul John Schneider and Dale Bretches, two Pelican Bay State Prison inmates who authorities say are gang members.
