Strickland Not Denying That Wife May Run for Supervisor

Gatherings of political partisans are always rife with rumor, but this one was particularly intriguing:

Audra Strickland, not her well-known husband, will challenge Thousand Oaks City Councilwoman Linda Parks for a seat on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

And Assemblyman Tony Strickland (R-Moorpark) was not exactly denying that possibility late Monday.

“Interesting tip,” Strickland said. He said he has not made up his mind about whether he will seek reelection or make a run at the supervisor’s seat in March. “That’s actually flattering. I think she would be terrific.”

Strickland said his 27-year-old schoolteacher wife has politics in her blood and was an aide to former Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle of Orange County when the couple first met at a Republican get-together.

Audra Strickland was not at home to confirm or deny the rumor herself. And neither would her husband. I’m not going to flat out deny that,” he said. “It sounds good to me.”
