From Times Staff Reports

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to whoever killed a woman, 81, found beaten to death Aug. 1 in her Watts home, authorities said.

Police, asked to check on Ruby Scott, discovered her body. She was “known to confront gang members who would loiter in front of her property and sometimes vandalize the area with their gang graffiti,” said LAPD Officer Jason Lee.

Evidence suggests that entry was gained by smashing a side window. Scott was assaulted and her home ransacked, but it is unclear if anything was stolen, Lee said.
