Sports events canceled or postponed because of Tuesday’s terrorist attacks:

Baseball

All 15 major league games (Seattle vs. Angels at Anaheim, Dodgers at San Diego, Toronto at Baltimore, Minnesota at Detroit, Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees, Boston at Tampa Bay, Cleveland at Kansas City, Texas at Oakland, New York Mets at Pittsburgh, Montreal at Florida, Philadelphia at Atlanta, Cincinnati at Chicago Cubs, San Francisco at Houston, St. Louis at Milwaukee, Colorado at Arizona) and all minor league baseball games scheduled for Tuesday were postponed.

College Football

UCLA’s football game against Arizona State at the Rose Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed and might be made up Dec. 1.

The Ohio at North Carolina State game scheduled Thursday is rescheduled for Nov. 24. The Texas Tech at Texas El Paso game Thursday is tentatively pushed back to Saturday. The Penn State at Virginia game scheduled for Thursday is postponed.

The Washington at Miami game Saturday was postponed, possibly until Nov. 24. Ohio State postponed Saturday’s game with San Diego State until Oct. 20 and Brown canceled its football game at San Diego.

Other College Events

UCLA and USC postponed all athletic events through the weekend.

Both schools had women’s volleyball matches scheduled at Oregon and Oregon State over the weekend. UCLA was scheduled to take part in USC’s 12-team water polo tournament.

The UC Irvine men’s soccer game at UCLA Sunday was postponed, as was the USC women’s cross-country team’s meet at San Diego State on Saturday. The USC women’s soccer team won’t play scheduled matches against Wake Forest on Friday and Kentucky on Sunday in a tournament at Loyola Marymount.

Buffalo postponed all events through the weekend and the Atlantic Coast Conference canceled all events through Thursday. The Big 12 postponed all soccer and volleyball matches Tuesday and today and the Big West postponed all volleyball matches for the week. All sports events in West Virginia scheduled for Tuesday were postponed.

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball match Tuesday with San Diego was postponed with at least 14 other Division I matches.

San Francisco canceled a scheduled trip to Boston for a men’s soccer tournament this weekend. At least nine other Division I men’s and women’s matches were postponed.

Golf

The PGA Tour canceled Thursday’s starts of the World Golf Championship and two other tournaments, the Tampa Bay Classic and the Buy.com Tour event in Oregon. The World Golf Championship is scheduled to begin with 36 holes Friday, and the other two will open with 18 holes on Friday and Saturday and conclude with 36 holes on Sunday.

The Senior Tour event in North Carolina will remain on schedule with a Friday scheduled start.

High Schools

The City Section canceled all athletic events Tuesday, but the Southern Section left the decision up to each school district.

Hockey

The Toronto Maple Leafs postponed a trip to training camp in Newfoundland and the Buffalo Sabres postponed a trip to St. Catharines, Ontario. Germany’s Nuremberg Ice Tigers, which has three Americans, voted against playing a game Tuesday.

Horse Racing

Fairplex Park and all other racing around the country was canceled. Calder Race Course, Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course are closed at least through today.

Motor Sports

NASCAR canceled qualifying on Friday for the New Hampshire 300. Sports Car Club of America postponed the Solo II Nationals held at Forbes Field in Topeka, Kan., until Thursday morning. NHRA postponed Keystone Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., until Oct. 4-7.

Soccer

The U.S. Women’s Cup doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, U.S. vs. Japan, Germany vs. China, was postponed.

Four MLS games scheduled for today, including San Jose vs. the Galaxy at the Rose Bowl, were postponed.

The A-League postponed its playoffs scheduled for this week.
