Richie Hawtin was born in England and moved to Canada as a kid, but it was Detroit that formed the first foundation of his electronic music style. The Motor City’s progressive radio and dance clubs steered the young DJ and record maker into the techno direction that has flowered into one of dance music’s most prominent careers. The Windsor Wizard’s latest, “DE9: Closer to the Edit,” hits stores next week.
