2 Ritzy Neighborhoods to Become Part of City
- Share via
The upscale Newport Coast and Newport Ridge neighborhoods will become part of Newport Beach unless a majority of registered voters object, a state panel ruled Wednesday.
The decision by the Local Agency Formation Commission won’t affect property taxes--homes in the area average $800,000 each--and the neighborhoods will keep their ZIP Code--92657--and Newport Coast postal designation.
They also will remain part of the south Orange County supervisorial district represented by Tom Wilson. The rest of Newport Beach is being moved into Supervisor Jim Silva’s district, joining Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach.
