Clear Channel’s Aim

Share

“Hitting the Wrong Note” (editorial, Sept. 19) was unnecessary under the circumstances. The folks at Clear Channel and other firms provided an appropriate response to the Sept. 11 atrocities. You admonish them for circulating a suggested list of songs that should not be played for the time being. This was obviously done so as to avoid highlighting or exacerbating the ill effects of the terrorist attacks, and I’m sure that most people appreciated it. Your opinion would seem to indicate that this is an early step toward unlawful censorship.

These songs haven’t been eliminated like so many books in a Nazi bonfire, just paused for a while. Please pick on someone more deserving than a few people trying to be extra sensitive in this difficult time.
