Yoshida to Begin New Duties Early at Peninsula

Wendell Yoshida said he will become athletic director at Peninsula effective April 15 instead of next school year. He replaces John Barr, who is becoming athletic director at Palos Verdes, which is reopening in the fall.

Yoshida also said he will not return as girls’ basketball coach at Peninsula after compiling a 444-184 record in 22 seasons at Palos Verdes and Peninsula. His teams won six section championships and two state titles, in 1991 and ’92. The 1992 Peninsula team was ranked No. 1 nationally at the end of the season.
