Policy on Iraq Leaves Bush Open to Attack

Share

So Immanuel Wallerstein thinks George W. Bush is incompetent (“Iraq War: The Coming Disaster,” Commentary, April 14). He believes the only thing America has left is military superiority. The only thing we have accomplished is the downfall of the weak and impoverished Taliban. I guess saving millions of lives from starvation, disease, famine and oppression doesn’t mean anything. Restoring schools and human rights and giving children hope for a better future is meaningless. Our incompetent president believes human dignity is worth fighting for. What a loser! I can’t believe you guys at The Times actually printed that sick rhetoric.

Wallerstein’s opening line, “George W. Bush is a geopolitical incompetent,” says it all and extends even into Bush’s handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Every European knows this, but it seems that no American does. Worse still, with Iraq in particular, not a small amount of Bush’s attention turns on “touching up” what Dad failed to do.
