Auto Theft Suspect Run Over by Stolen Car
A suspected car thief was critically injured after being crushed by the car he allegedly stole, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, apparently jumped from the moving car when detectives in the Foothill Division closed in on him, said Lt. Steven Allen of the Valley Traffic Division. The car ran into a wall, pinning the man underneath, Allen said.
The incident, which is still under investigation, occurred about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pierce Street and Glenoaks Boulevard.
Because the man was injured during a pursuit, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Collision Investigative Division is handling the case, authorities said.
