Two horses by what is now the most successful sire in the history of quarter horse racing will be in action as Los Alamitos begins another week of racing tonight.

Full Court, who will try for the eighth time to break his maiden in the fourth race, and 2-year-old filly Dashnlitia, who will run for the first time in the fifth, are by First Down Dash, who recently became the first quarter horse to surpass $40 million in progeny earnings.

Now 18, First Down Dash, the world champion in 1987 and a winner of 13 of 15 starts, has fathered horses who, through last week, had earned $40,016,170. Three of his offspring have emulated him and been named world champions: Down With Debt (1994), Dashing Folly (1996) and A Ransom (2000).

A 4-year-old gelding, Full Court missed by a nose in his most recent start at 870 yards and may be able to break through this evening. In the following race, Dashnlitia will break from the rail as she debuts for owner, breeder and trainer Blane Schvaneveldt.

The picks: 1. Kid Charismatic. 2. Allegro AA. 3. The Dixie Express. 4. Rail Skimmer. 5. Kiss My Kas Baby. 6. C R Fox. 7. A Star Chic. 8. Nothing No Personal.

Four! In the first, let’s use Kid Charismatic and An Abducted Chick, single Allegro AA in the second, use The Dixie Express, Ima Big City Chick, Royal Azure Prince and Boo Master in the third and Rail Skimmer, Brown Effort and Wired To Win in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Sophisticatedlady GVL drops in class and gets a new rider in Alex Bautista as she makes her second career start for Chuck Treece in the first, and Keno Cartel makes his first local start for trainer R C Howell in the seventh, which is the fifth leg in a pick six that has a carryover of $8,991.
