* MBNA Corp., the second-largest credit card issuer, said it may trim earnings by as much as $300 million before taxes to set up a reserve that would cushion earnings from unpaid fees and interest payments.
* Veteran record executive Phil Quartararo, who left the presidency of Warner Bros. Records in June, is expected to be named as executive vice president of British music giant EMI Group’s North American unit, sources said. Quartararo, a respected figure in radio promotion circles, is expected to take the post next month. EMI and Quartararo declined to comment.
