From Staff and Wire Reports

President Bush said the economic forum the White House held in Waco produced “some interesting ideas” from participants, among them proposals to make it easier for people to increase contributions to 401(k) retirement funds and individual retirement accounts.

The president said he also is considering raising the limit on investment losses that can be written off on income taxes and cutting tax rates on profits from the sale of stock and other assets. Speaking with reporters as he left a small community center in Crawford, near his 1,600-acre ranch, he was asked whether he might produce a new set of economic proposals.

“We’re thinking about it,” Bush said.
