Development Planned at Former Combat Range

From Times Wire Reports

Yuba County officials want to put 5,000 homes and a golf course atop a World War II-era combat range believed to contain explosives.

County officials say the Department of Defense never issued a warning when the county approved the plan 10 years ago.

But the state Environmental Protection Agency calls the plan highly risky. The proposed Yuba Highlands development is set to be built on Camp Beale, a former Army training ground said to contain unexploded bombs, rockets and mortar rounds.
