Illegal Border Crossings Are Crimes -- Period

Re “Up in Arms at Mexico Border,” Dec. 8: It seems that Chris Simcox of Tombstone, Ariz., who owns the local paper, has formed a posse (Civil Homeland Defense) to engage the drug lords and “coyotes” crossing illegally into their part of the good ol’ USA! Bravo, Chris! Thanks for doing what Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever isn’t -- his job. As for Isabel Garcia of Derechos Humanos, who seems to be on the side of the illegals, read the law books. If it’s a misdemeanor to cross into this country, then they’ve committed a crime and can and should be arrested. If you’re truly worried about their safety, as you claim, and you know there are dangers involved, then you wouldn’t encourage them to cross the border or offer them help if they get here.

And as for Mary Frances Berry, chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, I say the same thing. If they break the law, arrest them.

All our state and federal officials do is pander to the undocumented aliens. We need more heroic patriots like Simcox, who is bravely trying with his militia to stem the flow of illegal invaders despite our government’s gross negligence.
