Ex-Councilman Guilty of Conflict in Land Sale
From Times Staff Reports
Former Councilman Shawn Boyd pleaded guilty Friday to a felony conflict-of-interest charge that will bar him from ever again seeking public office.
Boyd, 34, admitted hiding his financial relationship with Richard Hall, owner of the Seal Beach Trailer Park, who made a $4.5-million profit after the city financed the park’s sale last year to a nonprofit group.
The judge placed Boyd on three years’ probation and fined him almost $50,000.
