From Times Wire Reports

France prepared to send the first of hundreds more troops to Ivory Coast, building its biggest intervention force in a former African colony since the 1980s.

Thousands marched against the French in the city of Bouake, controlled for almost three months by rebels who accuse Paris of trying to occupy the West African country. France has about 1,500 soldiers monitoring a shaky cease-fire between the government and rebels.
