Tall Fence Sought at Recycling Center
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The principal of Jordan High School and operators of a recycling plant next door agreed to ask Los Angeles County for permission to build a 22-foot-high fence between the properties to avoid accidents like the one that occurred Dec. 9, when a mortar round exploded and a chunk of shrapnel landed in the schoolyard.
Zoning laws now limit such fences to 10 feet. Operators of Atlas Iron & Metal Recycling Center will seek the variance.
