No. 21 Xavier Outlasts Siena

The inside-outside combination of David West and Romain Sato combined for 54 points and No. 21 Xavier held off Siena, 96-88, Monday night at Albany, N.Y.

Sato, a junior from Central African Republic, had 33 points, including a three-point basket with 2 minutes 20 seconds remaining and Xavier (7-2) ahead, 86-83. Siena (5-3) wouldn’t get any closer.

West had 21 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and a team-high six assists.

No. 12 Florida 74, Charleston Southern 62 -- Matt Bonner and Anthony Roberson made jump shots to key a 10-2 run that put Florida (9-2) ahead, 64-56, with four minutes remaining at Gainesville, Fla.

Bonner finished with 17 points and Roberson scored 16.

In other games, Jason Parker had 16 of his 25 points in the first half and helped No. 20 Tulsa score the game’s first 11 points in a 78-65 victory over Texas Christian at Tulsa, Okla.... Ryan Randle scored 17 of his career-high 21 points in the second half to help No. 23 Maryland beat Maryland Baltimore County, 101-60, at State College, Md.... In a women’s game, No. 12 Notre Dame beat Colorado State, 46-45. Alicia Ratay made two free throws with 9.3 seconds left to help the Irish (7-1) win at South Bend, Ind. The Rams (5-4) still had a chance to win, but Elizabeth English missed a three-point attempt and time ran out.
