Fox Hunts Proceed Amid Calls for Ban

From Times Wire Reports

Cries of tally-ho and the barking of hounds mingled with the shouts of protesters as 50,000 riders across England and Wales set off on about 300 post-Christmas fox hunts. About 200,000 people turned out to watch.

But the centuries-old tradition is under threat as the government moves to tighten regulation of the sport in England and Wales, although it has shied away from an outright ban. Limited fox hunting would be allowed with curbs aimed to prevent unnecessary cruelty.
