14-Year-Old Arrested in Shooting Death of Friend
Police Saturday said they arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly shot his friend with a rifle in Whittier on Friday.
Whittier police originally called the shooting accidental, but concluded it was a homicide after further investigation and arrested the boy later on Friday, said Sgt. Michael Garrahan. He declined to elaborate or suggest a motive.
Nicholas Calamusa, 15, died at the home of the 14-year-old after the rifle the two boys were playing with went off. The rifle belonged to the suspect’s parents, police said.
