It’s time for a certain Grimm’s fairy tale to go “Into the Woods” once more, as the show’s creative team, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, revisit their musical fantasy in a new production--directed by Lapine. Vanessa Williams stars as the Witch and John McMartin as the Narrator/Mysterious Man.

“Willem de Kooning: Tracing the Figure,” the first comprehensive survey of works on paper devoted to the artist’s Expressionist depictions of women, opens Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The show will include 78 works produced from 1938 to 1955, from Surrealist-inspired portraits of Elaine de Kooning and Juliette Brauner created in 1938 to later abstract figures drawn in 1955.

7pm Pop Music

For a celebration of its centennial and to promote its environmental Green L.A. program, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will host a concert headlined by gospel star Yolanda Adams and hometown heroes Los Lobos. The percussion group Adaawe, sacred Jewish music cantorial performances, the First AME Church Choir and others are also scheduled at “Voices for a Green L.A.,” which begins with an outdoor festival at 5:30 p.m.
